Bryan Parkes - Head of Innovation Acceleration, Zespri

Bryan Parkes is Head of Innovation Acceleration at Zespri, the world’s largest marketer of kiwifruit. With over 25 years of experience in agribusiness, and two decades in the kiwifruit industry, he leads Zespri’s strategy for sourcing and scaling innovations that build climate resilience and sustainability.

Bryan oversees the ZAG Innovation Fund, a US$2 million annual fund supporting global research and agri-tech startups in areas like carbon-positive practices, orchard electrification, and cultivar development.

His career spans R&D, product commercialisation, and science leadership, including prior work in forest biotechnology with Carter Holt Harvey. At Zespri, he champions open innovation models like venture clienting to drive real-world impact across the food system.
