Heikki Pöntynen is the CEO of Norsepower, a Finnish cleantech company reinventing wind propulsion for the 21st century.
A third-generation naval architect from a family with shipbuilding roots dating back to the 1600s, Heikki has over 30 years’ experience across the maritime value chain, holding senior roles in Finland, China, Hong Kong, and the USA.
Under his leadership, Norsepower has modernised the century-old Flettner rotor into a proven technology that cuts ship fuel use and CO₂ emissions by 5–25%, with some routes achieving up to 50% savings.
Heikki is a passionate advocate for practical, scalable climate solutions in shipping, combining deep technical expertise with a global perspective to drive the sector toward net zero by 2050.
