Jonathon Porritt

Jonathon Porritt is one of the UK’s most respected voices on sustainability and climate activism.

A former Director of Friends of the Earth and Co-Chair of the Green Party, he co-founded Forum for the Future in 1996, working with business and civil society to accelerate the shift to a sustainable future.

Since stepping down in 2023, he has “returned to his campaigning roots,” supporting the Green Party and radical climate movements such as Just Stop Oil.

Jonathon has long championed intergenerational justice, mentoring young activists confronting the twin crises of climate breakdown and biodiversity loss.

He is President of The Conservation Volunteers and Population Matters, and serves on the boards of multiple NGOs. Awarded a CBE in 2000 for services to environmental protection, Jonathon is also the author of many influential books, most recently Love, Anger, and Betrayal and Hope in Hell.
